Our client is a large NSW Government Organisation who are seeking Senior Data Engineer to join their team.

This role sits in the engineering team, within the Regulatory Intelligence Analytics directorate who are responsible for the management of the data environment and data products across the data pipeline to support the companies requirements. We also manage the analytics environment from the ingestion, data quality/modelling engineering, ETL/API orchestration, data visualisation, metrics, reporting and advanced data research, in adherence to strict data governance requirements.


Key Responsibilities: 
  1. Technical responsibility for analytics platforms and environments, data processing products and ingestion methods as required to ensure compliance with data standards, architectural standards, and achievement of documented customer requirements.
  2. Build solutions for data management/data analytical projects and ensure adherence to technical specifications, design requirements, best practices and coding standards defined for the project.
  3. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
  4. Build and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data into data warehouses, making data available for analysis and reporting.
  5. Monitor data pipelines and systems for issues, troubleshoot and resolve data-related problems in a timely manner to minimize disruptions.
Selection Criteria:
  1. Software Engineering background demonstrated currency of knowledge in the areas of opensource data products.
  2. Deep technical experience in infrastructure design, build and deployment, including private and public cloud, networking, connectivity, storage, virtualization, and identity.
  3. Technical depth to deliver data and analytical services including data ingestion, transformation, storage, and reporting.
  4. Translate technical and complex information into plain English in an environment of divergent stakeholder perspectives.
  5. Undertaking relationship management with government agencies, private industry, peak industry advisory bodies, the public, committees, and other groups.
  6. Insurance experience is highly desirable. 
On offer is a  daily rate contract at a highly sought after NSW Government Organisation, with a highly competitive daily rate.
